The Director, Compensation develops, implements, and administers compensation programs. The Director, Compensation requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

The Director, Compensation is accountable for the delivery of all compensation programs and consulting required to meet the needs of the business, alignment TBD.

The Director will:

– Lead a team of compensation professionals

– Build relationships with senior leaders, learn their organizations and business strategy, and set/align compensation practices to support that strategy

– Use strategic knowledge and deep subject matter expertise to increase enterprise capability across multiple functions

– Provide strategic support by advising Executive Officers on complex compensation problems involving topics such as: executive pay, organizational restructures, career paths/development, job reviews/leveling, offers, regulatory/FLSA, market pricing, incentives, rewards, retention, etc.

– Leads, executes, and manages budgets for enterprise annual compensation processes (Base, Bonus, Equity).

– Lead and/or participate in the strategy, design and execution of major compensation projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+years of applied experience in various HR Functions
  • Experience leading teams and expanding the capabilities and performance of the team
  • Ability to establish and develop strong partnerships and connections with key senior stakeholders and internal clients across numerous functional areas – including business segment leadership, HR, Finance, among others
  • Partner with internal compensation partners, to ensure positioning across compensation programs is aligned with defined strategic objectives
  • Record of success in thinking deeply through complex topics/business problems, then developing and successfully implementing well thought through plans
  • Proven expertise in problem resolution, including the data and analytics skills to enable common linkages to be identified and connected
  • High level of execution and ability to influence, critical thinking
  • Highly organized and self-driven with an ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Previous experience working within a team-based atmosphere with shared responsibility
  • Experience navigating in a large company with a complex and heavily matrixed organizational structure

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of Compensation or HR experience


  • Teams work East Coast hours, open to remote or Louisville KY Headquarters

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$164,700 – $226,600 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
